Round DOWN: Drop remaining days and maintain current month count. Example: 4 years, 5 months, 12 days $\rightarrow$ 4 years, 5 months (4-5).
Adjusting for Prematurity in Children Under 2 Years
For infants and toddlers under 24 months of age who were born four or more weeks early, BRIGANCE administration guidelines require calculating a corrected (adjusted) age prior to applying the 15-day rounding rule. Subtract the weeks of prematurity from chronological age to avoid underestimating developmental performance.
